History

The Hagan Foundation was established in 1997 by Cornelius E. Hagan, Jr., a retired Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist in Spokane, Washington. The mission of the Foundation was simple but reflected his strong heart-felt beliefs:

“...to contribute to non-profit organizations where the least amount of money will do the most good for the greatest number and provide the opportunities and tools to support education in its broadest sense with an emphasis on youth.

In 2005, Dr. Hagan established the Hagan Foundation Center for Humanities at Spokane Community College Media Center. The Center offers students, faculty, staff and administrators opportunities to host noted guest speakers and presentations for rich and invigorating discussions on current events and global issues.

Dr. Hagan passed in 2012 at the age of 101—strong in mind but with a failing body. He monitored the stock markets daily and was an active and contributing member of the Foundation until his last days. As caretakers, the Foundation Board remains loyal and strong today as they extend into the future upholding the simple but profound legacy of Dr. Hagan.
